Shawn Straub, MA, SPHR is the Co-Founder and Principal Partner of ALT HR Partners. While providing insight and assistance with legal compliance and risk mitigation Shawn helps companies navigate terminations and layoffs with dignity, respect, and empathy. She is a fierce advocate for treating all employees equally and fairly.
Shawn has been providing employee relations expertise for nearly 20 years in healthcare, retail, and non-profit organizations. In her role as Director of Human Resources at multiple corporations, she has created strategic solutions for employee development and provided tactical expertise in employment law.
Shawn was recognized by the Worcester Business Journal as a top 40 under 40 professional and by the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve as a Patriotic Employer for her support and inclusion of veterans in the workforce.
She is passionate about mentoring and has worked with a variety of organizations to help create and foster their own mentoring programs. At the North East Human Resources Association annual conference in Massachusetts Shawn ran a workgroup for companies interested in starting their own internal programs. This past year Shawn served as a Mentor in the GSO Fellows Program through Campus Greensboro. In 2016 Shawn joined employers from across the country at the annual UpSkill America symposium in Washington, DC and spoke to the attendees on the importance of providing skill training for America’s workforce. The following year Shawn spoke at RetailHR about Welcoming Millennials in the Workforce, as well as Successful On-Boarding across Multi-State Organizations.
Shawn is a firm believer in the community and giving back. Shawn is an active member of Rotary and works within her community as a volunteer with multiple organizations.
Shawn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Montclair State University and a Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Chico. Shawn is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the national Human Resources Certification Institute and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM –SCP) by the Society for Human Resources Management.
Brandon Kemps, CSM, is the Co-Founder and Principal Partner of ALT HR Partners. Brandon guides companies through the employment lifecycle. He ensures high morale and engagement during times of employee transitions. Brandon is passionate about culture fit and treating all employees with empathy and respect.
Brandon has spent the last seven years as a recruiter in a variety of industries, including retail, IT, and call centers. Brandon has recruited for roles from executives to line staff. He is passionate about helping employees find their path and about helping companies find the right fit. Brandon believes that fit is not just about skills on a resume, but culture bond and awareness. Therefore he works closely with the employee and the company to find the right match.
Brandon holds a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Minor in Political Science from Randolph Macon College. In 2015, Brandon became a Certified Social Media Strategist, translating his love of technology into solid business solutions for recruiting and engaging talent.
